When I opened my order, I thought this was some sort of free extra pamphlet. Then I realized I actually ordered it, and it cost over $9.00. I guess it would be useful for an absolute beginner, someone who had never quilted or really dealt with fabric. I’m no expert but this is just a waste of money. The pictures of the blocks are tiny, the format flimsy. It’s only 31 PAGES!I’m sure the publishers mean well but this is a pamphlet not a book. I’m returning it. The first time I’ve ever done that. What this little book does, it does well. It shows multiple ways to use precuts to get the most out of your fabrics. The intro identifies terminology that may be new to many (including me) and presents a nice layout for what is to come. There are many tables with dimensions of how many blocks you need to make a certain size--a very useful feature.There are multiple sample blocks created by using each kind of precut providing the reader multiple ideas for making various quilt blocks.Now, the downfall for me: Since I'm a very visual person, I liked seeing the sample blocks made from precuts. However, there is no sample quilt layout pictured (even simple 2-3 flat shades helps) to help me visualize what the quilt would look like if I chose to make multiples of that block. I can't speak for all quilt books though I own a bunch and could go look, I guess, but I think it's a rare occasion that a quilt block book doesn't give you ideas of what a potential quilt might look like using a certain block design??Perhaps that was not the purpose of this book, however. It is specifically states that it is about how to make quilt blocks from precuts and that it does.For a $10, investment, it's a great little reference book.
